Swayam Full Form
SWAYAM stands for "Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds" and is an online portal which provides greater teaching-learning experience.
The initiative aims to “bridge the digital divide for students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of the knowledge economy.”
From students in 9th grade to post-graduate students and just anybody who wants to improve their skillset can take up online course Swayam and upskill themselves for free.
Swayam Certificate Value
At the end of every course done, students who have registered for the course will be assessed through exams and these marks/ credits can be transferred to their academic records. For this UGC has issued a UGC regulation 2016, wherein universities are advised to identify courses where credits can be transferred on to the academic record of the students for courses done on Swayam.
Besides students registering for a particular course only get the certificate only if they prove themselves worthy. i.e. the student must fulfil all assignments, quizzes, etc., and pass the end exam with good marks.
Thus, if a student takes any of the academic courses he can get his credits transferred to his mark list and if a person does a technical skillset development course successfully and gets a certificate, it would definitely add value to his resume and would have better chances of employment.
